Getting started
Install Moonbox, sign in, pick your tools and make your first thing.
Install
- Open the file you downloaded (it ends in
.dmg). - Drag Moonbox into your Applications folder.
- Open Moonbox from Applications or Launchpad. The first time, macOS asks whether you want to open an app you downloaded from the internet; choose Open. Moonbox is signed and checked by Apple.
Moonbox needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later. See Mac requirements.
Enter your email address and Moonbox sends you a sign-in link. Open the link on the same Mac and it takes you back to the app. Signing in lets Moonbox download tools for your Mac; nothing you make is uploaded. You can use Moonbox on up to three Macs.
Moonbox is in beta: the beta says what that means, and what to do if Moonbox asks for an invite code.
Pick what you want to make
Moonbox asks what you’d like to make (pictures, video, voices, music and so on) and suggests the tools for it. It only offers tools your Mac has the memory to run; see memory tiers. Each tool shows its size before you download it. You can add or remove tools later on the Models page.
The first download also brings the engine every tool shares, so it takes a little longer than the ones after it.
Make something
Choose a tool in the sidebar, describe what you want or add a photo or recording, and press the Make button (for example, Make an image). The first job after starting the app takes a moment longer while the tool loads. Everything you make is saved in Assets, on your Mac.
Prefer to ask? Open Chat and tell the assistant what you’re after: it picks the tools and makes it for you.
